Guardian Book Company started about 1992 as Norm Black was a sales rep working with public schools, public libraries and private schools covering Ohio, Michigan along with National convention duties. As the major publishing companies grew larger thru mergers with other existing publishers, the school market changed.
It was at this time that Norm Black used his experience and contacts to start GBC, supplying classroom sets of novels and textbooks at the high school level and library books and assorted workbooks, activity books and textbooks at the elementary and secondary levels. Adding Corrections, State institutions and Charter schools to his customer list later. A company owned showroom and warehouse in a Toledo, OH suburb followed shortly!!
